WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:
“Working with Doris has given me both confidence and clarity. From attending a prayer breakfast with our CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer) to shaping new initiatives, she doesn’t just offer words — she offers real, lived-out support that says, “I’ve got you,” and means it.
When I share an idea, she responds with excitement and thoughtful insight that help expand it into something stronger. What began as a small concept — Leading Together through inspired conversations — is now taking shape as a vision with real momentum for our ministry.
Every conversation is grounded in practical, actionable guidance. Doris offers clear next steps that feel attainable, helping me move forward with confidence rather than feeling overwhelmed.
One simple shift she suggested — recognizing that Arrow’s stories are our donors’ stories too — transformed how I approach communication. It moved me from transactional to transformational and helped me begin to find my authentic voice in this work.”

“Looking back on this year, Angie has consistently brought clarity and calm into moments that could easily feel complex or heavy.
During a particularly demanding season when our design team was overextended, Angie stepped in generously and without hesitation. She truly felt like a Godsend. She rolled up her sleeves and lifted a significant load, and the work immediately felt lighter because she was there. Her ability to jump in with both excellence and ease made an incredible difference.
Angie is a creative genius. Her work brings light and momentum to any team she joins. Beyond her remarkable talent, it is her heart that stands out most to me. She is patient, kind, and wonderfully clear in her communication, making collaboration feel seamless and stress-free. I always know that edits, pivots, or new ideas will be met with openness and care.
I am deeply grateful for Angie and couldn’t speak more highly of her.”

Umoja Community supports newcomers and marginalized Calgarians in building a sense of belonging and inclusion. We engaged DO Philanthropy to conduct impact evaluations for several of our anti-racism and community inclusion initiatives in Calgary.
Martha’s approach went far beyond data collection. Her work was relational and intentional — creating safe spaces where participants and staff felt genuinely seen, heard, and respected.
When the findings showed our strongest outcomes were with younger youth and women, it affirmed what we had sensed but could not yet substantiate. Through careful listening, thoughtful analysis, and reflective dialogue, DO Philanthropy helped us translate those insights into clear, strategic direction.
What could have felt like an external evaluation instead became a collaborative learning journey. We now move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and credible evidence — better equipped to communicate our impact to funders and partners.

This past year was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. While Doris shared invaluable practical insight and tangible skills, the most lasting impact was her consistent ability to see me. When my confidence and hope were thin, she showed up as my steady cheerleader — reminding me of who I am and what’s still possible.
Doris generously leveraged her social capital — making introductions, speaking my name in rooms I wasn’t in, and opening doors within her sphere of influence without hesitation. She paired that advocacy with deep listening, thoughtful encouragement, and a gentle way of bringing me back to clarity when things felt heavy.
At one point, she shared her prayer that this would be the “best worst year” of my life. That phrase became an anchor for me. In many ways, Doris was hope embodied during a season when I needed it most — and I’m not sure there’s a greater gift one person can offer another.

What stands out most is how Doris has truly seen, valued, and affirmed my work. Stepping into a new dimension of my role brought daunting moments and stretches of uncertainty. At no point did she make me feel inadequate. Instead, she consistently affirmed sound thinking and good work, which strengthened my confidence in meaningful ways.
When Doris identified gaps in our capacity, she didn’t just point them out — she stepped in to help get things started. That proactive support made a tangible difference in our momentum and effectiveness.
I’m deeply grateful for her encouragement, insight, and willingness to come alongside us in practical ways.

“One of the first things that comes to mind when I think about working with DO Philanthropy is how consistently encouraging and affirming their team is. Their genuine belief in our work has meant so much to us.
What I’ve appreciated most, however, is their willingness to pivot from initial plans in order to iterate on systems and planning in ways that better support our team. That kind of flexibility and responsiveness is invaluable, especially as we navigate complex and demanding workloads.
Whether it was helping us shift away from tools that were no longer serving us or intentionally building in strategic planning days when things began to feel a bit topsy-turvy, DO Philanthropy modelled thoughtful, adaptive leadership. They don’t just manage projects — they help recalibrate direction when needed, ensuring we stay aligned, focused, and supported.
It truly feels like partnership — not just consulting — working with a team that leads with both clarity and care.”

When I look back on this year, one moment stands out: the day I sent an urgent “help” message about a funding dynamic that felt loaded and uneven.
I was navigating a space where money clearly held the upper hand. I felt the subtle pressure to shrink, accommodate, and over-explain. Doris didn’t rush in with quick advice. She made space. She listened carefully. She named what I was sensing and reminded me of who we are and what we carry. She prayed with me — and that grounding mattered more than I can fully articulate.
What shifted wasn’t just my strategy. It was my posture.
I walked back into that situation steady, clear, and at peace. I led as an equal in the room — not as a nonprofit scrambling for approval. That moment became a defining leadership marker for me this year, and the outcomes reflected that shift.
Another defining moment came when Doris stepped alongside me onstage and challenged the audience to stand with me and listen. It wasn’t subtle — it was bold and deeply loving. That experience reshaped how I invite people into financial partnership. I no longer see it as a request born of need but as a call to shared responsibility and courageous participation.
These weren’t abstract coaching conversations. They were embodied moments of courage that changed how I show up as a leader.
With deep gratitude,
